Hi there !
Two weeks ago we went for brunch in Tiong Bahru and tried the new cool brunch place in the district: Merci Marcel.
Merci Marcel is located near Tiong Bahru Bakery, in Eng Hoon Street (#56). If you are already familiar with ÔComptoir and ÔBatignolles, Merci Marcel is actually a new concept from the same owners. It’s a very friendly and instagram worthy French cafe, offering a delicious range of food.
It is most likely that the place will be packed if you go there during the weekend as they do not accept reservations for Brunch. But fear not, Merci Marcel offers a nice waiting area in front of the café & is actually very nicely organised. We waited for about 15 to 20 minutes for a table for two when we went at about 1PM on a Sunday.
The café offers several seating areas: a terrace in front of the café, a patio at the back and a very cosy inside area. The attention to detail all over the café is very nice. You’ll always find something to look at during your meal! On our way out, we also noticed that you can buy some cheese to take away, at a quite decent price (for Singapore that’s to say) – Nice French touch !
The Brunch menu is very complete and it took us quite a while to decide on our final order! We went for the Croque Marcel (Ham, Egg, Cheese on delicious Bread), the Caesar Salad (with Kale, grilled chicken, Parmesan & more) and the Homemade fries. We both took freshly squeezed orange juices to go with our order. Everything was delicious and nicely arranged and it all came out quite fast from the kitchen. We would definitely order again the homemade french fries on our next visit, really, you should try them!
Extra kudos to the staff of Merci Marcel, everyone is super friendly and smily, making you enjoy your moment there even more !
Anyway, if you didn’t get it yet, we truly recommend Merci Marcel for your next Brunch, you won’t be disappointed !
